The former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder has sealed his first role as a manager on an interim basis.
Cesc Fabregas has taken over as the manager of Serie B club Como in Italy on an interim basis.
Como announced Fabregas’ appointment on Monday after the departure of Moreno Longo, their previous head coach. The 36-year-old takes over a team that is in sixth place in the Serie B table. They are in the promotional playoffs with 21 points in 12 games, leaving them eight points off leaders Parma.
Fabregas finished his career at Como last season. The former midfielder made 17 appearances for the club in a one-year spell. He didn’t score any goals, but did chip in two assists and captained the team occasionally.
Since hanging up his boots, Fabregas has worked as the coach of the Italian club’s under-19 squad. He recorded three wins, three draws, and three defeats in his nine games in charge.
The former Arsenal, Chelsea, and Barcelona star will make his debut for the senior team on November 25 when Como welcome FeralpiSalo to Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia in a Serie B fixture.
