The former Arsenal and Chelsea star has made the decision to transition into coaching.

Cesc Fabregas has officially announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 36. Bringing an end to an illustrious career, the former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder leaves behind a legacy marked by remarkable achievements, including two Premier League titles with Chelsea, a La Liga triumph with Barcelona, and an FA Cup victory with Arsenal.

In addition to his club successes, Fabregas also had a distinguished international career representing Spain. He hoisted the prestigious World Cup trophy and clinched two European Championships during his tenure. The Spaniard amassed a total of 110 caps for his country from 2006 to 2016.

Looking ahead, the 36-year-old will transition into coaching, with his immediate focus set on Como, the Serie B side where he played last season. Fabregas will take charge of coaching their B team.

Expressing his sentiments regarding his retirement, Fabregas stated, “It is with great sadness that the time has come for me to hang up my playing boots. From my first days at Barca, Arsenal, Barca again, Chelsea, Monaco, and Como, I will treasure them all.” He went on to reflect on his cherished memories, from winning major trophies to the invaluable support he received from teammates, coaches, family, and fans.

Fabregas expressed his gratitude to those who challenged him, stating, “To my opponents who tried to knock me, thank you for making me stronger.” He concluded with excitement about his new coaching venture, remarking, “It’s not all sadness though as I’m now going to cross the white line and start coaching the B and Primavera teams of Como 1907. A club and a project I couldn’t be more excited about.”

After a remarkable 20-year career filled with dedication, sacrifice, and joy, Fabregas bids farewell to the beautiful game, expressing his love and appreciation for every minute spent on the field. His retirement marks the beginning of a new chapter, as he embarks on a coaching journey in the Italian football.
