In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Aleksander Seferin doubled down on his threats against all 12 clubs from the Super League.

Even though the large majority of the Super League clubs already backed down, Aleksander Ceferin is not done with them. In fact, the UEFA president believed these clubs need to serve as an example for any other club that wants to break away from them. Even though there is already a plan in motion to punish all 12 clubs, some sanctions will be less severe than others.

All clubs from the Premier League were the quickest to leave the new proposal, which means they won’t be punished as harshly. Other clubs like Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, or Juventus won’t be as lucky. They were the ones who started this initiative and Ceferin won’t forget about it that easily. In Spain, the press is already scared of what UEFA might do against Los Blancos during the Champions League semifinal against Chelsea. But a concrete punishment won’t come until after the current season is over.

What did Ceferin say about this?

The issue here is that Ceferin already threatened to punish every single club that was involved in this breakaway. But the UEFA president did confirm that the three clubs who organized this would get the biggest punishment. We will get to see the reaction from these clubs in the coming days. The reason Ceferin said all clubs would get punished is also related to their inability to actually leave the Super League. As you all may know, Florentino Perez made every single club owner sign a legal document.

This binds them to the new tournament and getting out of it will be incredibly difficult. There is already an established monetary sanction to all the clubs that try to leave the Super League. Now we need to add Ceferin’s punishment to what they already have to pay to UEFA. As soon as we get more information on what happens here, we will keep you posted on every little detail. Ceferin won’t make any announcements until after the UEFA Champions League semifinals.
