We will tell you all about Edinson Cavani’s chance to make history by reaching a Cristiano Ronaldo milestone from his days in England.

Edinson Cavani has a chance to reach a Manchester United milestone set by Cristiano Ronaldo from his days as a Red Devil. We have to go all the way back to 2008, which was arguably one of the star’s best years of his career. Back then, Cristiano was completely unplayable and no club in the world could stop him. Perhaps some of his most impressive performances came against West Ham United, a club to which he scored two consecutive braces.

No other United player has done this after Cristiano. That is, to score two consecutive braces against a single club. But Edinson Cavani has a chance to do just that while also wearing the number ‘7’ jersey this week. The Uruguay international scored twice against Southampton during the month of November when they visited St. Mary’s Stadium.

Cavani can make history next to Ronaldo.

During that game in November, Cavani came on the pitch to completely revolutionize his team’s dynamic. He didn’t just score that brace, but he also provided an assist for the final 2-3 victory. If the Uruguay native can score two goals against the Saints on Tuesday at Old Trafford, he will reach Cristiano’s milestone. Getting your name associated with the Portuguese legend is a luxury that very few footballers in the world can have.

In Cavani’s case, it would be a fitting homage to his already impressive career. Let’s just hope he is up to the standards that are expected from him. We know matching Ronaldo from 2008 is pretty much impossible for any player, but at least Cavani can aspire to reach this milestone. The game is set to take place in yet another midweek Premier League fixture that kicks off tomorrow.
