Edinson Cavani has found a way to finish his career at Barcelona after falling down the pecking order at Manchester United.
Edinson Cavani has figured out an alternative plan which would see him play for Barcelona after his Manchester United career in 2022.
As we all have witnessed, the 34-year-old has been finding it difficult to surpass strikers Cristiano Ronaldo and Mason Greenwood at Old Trafford. All the more, his injuries have kept him away from regular playing minutes for the Red Devils. And it does not seem likely that the Uruguayan will receive an extension at the club at the end of the season.
Be that as it may, Cavani has a long-waited dream to play for one of the most famous Spanish teams, which is Barcelona. And according to the Times, the striker wants to put a green tick mark on it before he stops playing football at the highest level, i.e. in the next two years.
For that matter, the Uruguay international wants to join the Catalan club once his contract with Man Utd is done and dusted. However, it is also believed that he is not going to push the accelerator to arrive at that decision. Meaning, Cavani will not leave the grounds of the English club immediately in January.
There are two reasons for that specific decision, one being the attacker wants to see what unfolds at United under the new interim boss Ralf Rangnick. The other rational truth is that Barca do not have the financial capability to pay for his duties and sign him in the January transfer window.
In conclusion, the only safe route that Cavani can take is when he becomes a free agent in the summer of next year. Moreover, there is no shortage of his fanbase at Camp Nou, because the club offered him a contract earlier but could not close the deal. On top of this, Barcelona are in desperate need of a striker for the next campaign.
The Catalunya club has targeted Erling Haaland in the past and will keep him as a long-term target in the future. But, it would be a tough one to crack considering the monetary issues that they are dealing with at the moment. That leaves Edinson Cavani among other cheaper options that can be exploited by the La Liga outfit.
