Manchester United forward Edinson Cavani has revealed the reason he turned down offer from Juventus over the summer.

Manchester United forward Edinson Cavani has reiterated he turned down moves to Inter and Juventus due to his ties with Napoli.

The Uruguayan left PSG after his contract with the club ran through its length and he was deemed no longer needed by the French giants.

For a player of his experience and quality, it was no surprise that a number of sides were in the running to land Cavani on a free.

Among those sides included Italian sides Juventus and Inter with the Bianconeri in particular strongly linked to the 33-year-old at the time.

For a player who once starred for Napoli and became a cult hero at the club, he could not imagine playing against his former side.

In his stint at Napoli, Cavani bagged an impressive 104 games in 138 appearances for the Serie A outfit before leaving for PSG.

On deadline day, he eventually joined summer and revealed he turned down Italian sides due to his connection with Napoli.

Once again, he has reiterated on that decision.

Asked whether he had any message for the Napoli fans, Cavani replied as per MondoNapoli: “Only thanks.”

“I will always be grateful to them.”

“It is for this reason that I said no to many Italian clubs, including Juventus, who called me often, and Inter too.”

“I couldn’t make such a gesture to the Neapolitans. If I think of Naples, I think of joy. I know that I have done so much for them and they continue to pay homage to me with all this.”
