Milan forward Samuel Castillejo is enjoying himself under Stefano Pioli and remains hopeful of their chances ahead of the new season.
Castillejo is looking forward to a new season with Milan and remains optimistic about his side’s ambitions.
From starting last season badly, the Rossoneri turned their season around post lock-down and went on an unbeaten run of 12 games in Serie A.
Castillejo was among those who thrived under Stefano Pioli as they raced to a sixth-place finish.
The Spanish winger made sure to give credit to Pioli for his improvement over the past few months.
“I remember after the Cagliari match, he said some beautiful words to me.” Castillejo said to DAZN.
“He’s a coach who talks a lot, he’s very close to the players.”
“Even when he was on holiday, he made himself heard through messages or phone calls. This is very good for the players because they know the coach cares about them and they look forward to giving more.”
“Beyond being a great coach, he’s a beautiful person.”
Castillejo also looks back and says he was happy to take a regular playing opportunity when it presented itself.
“Since the new year began, I have had the opportunity to play, right from the match against Cagliari.
“From there I changed a lot, like the team did. Many players left and new ones arrived. Anyone who knows me, knows that I will never leave a team without leaving a good memory.”
“I worked in silence, I was corrected, and I waited for my opportunity.”
Milan will officially begin their 20/21 campaign with an Europa League qualifiers game against Shamrock Rovers later on Wednesday.
