The former Liverpool defender has named one player in Jurgen Klopp’s squad who would make a huge difference for Arsenal.

Arsenal would get an extra nine points if they had Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker, according to Jamie Carragher.

This season, the goalkeeper position has been a big debate at Arsenal. David Raya has usurped Aaron Ramsdale, a fan favorite, in front of the goal. The Catalan is on a season loan from Brentford. He’s kept five clean sheets in 12 Premier League games, but has made notable errors in matches against Chelsea, Newcastle, and Luton.

“If Arsenal had Alisson Becker they would be almost guaranteed a minimum of nine extra points, which would win them the title,” Carragher wrote in The Telegraph.

Alison and Raya will come face-to-back at Anfield this Saturday, when Liverpool take on Arsenal.

Despite a midfield overhaul in the summer, Liverpool sit up in second place in the Premier League table. The Reds are one point behind leaders Arsenal going into their latest showdown.

The two sides drew 2-2 in their previous contest at Anfield last season.

After their Premier League clash, Liverpool and Arsenal will meet again in a third-round FA Cup tie on January 7 in north London.

“Overall, Arsenal are a year ahead of Liverpool in their development,” Carragher remarked.

“But the teams are closer than [Jurgen] Klopp could have imagined when playing catch-up at the start of this season.

“The teams meet three times over the course of the next seven fixtures, with a rivalry evolving like that of the late ’80s and early ’90s, when [George] Graham’s side knocked Kenny Dalglish’s off their perch.”
