The Real Madrid manager will make his first foray into international football in the 2024 Copa America tournament.
Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Real Madrid, will coach Brazil’s team for the Copa America in the United States next summer.
On Tuesday, Ednaldo Rodrigues confirmed the news. The Brazilian Football Confederation president also announced the appointment of Fernando Diniz. The Fluminense boss will take charge of the Selecao on an interim basis for a year, replacing the U-20 coach Ramon Menezes.
Ancelotti has one more season on his contract with Real Madrid. The Italian has previously he would like to continue coaching the Spanish side. But at this moment, neither he nor Madrid has commented on Rodrigues’ announcement.
Despite never coaching at international level, Ancelotti has a remarkable CV. The 64-year-old has won four Champions Leagues, twice with AC Milan and Real Madrid. He has also claimed league titles in each of Europe’s top five divisions at least once.
For now, Brazil’s attention will be on the World Cup qualifiers, including a home match against defending champions Argentina in November.
The 2024 Copa America starts on June 20 in the United States.
