The reigning LaLiga champions have slipped nine points behind runaway leaders Barca.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti insists it is ‘not impossible’ for his side to beat Barcelona to the LaLiga crown.

The title holders lost vital ground to their table-topping rivals at the weekend. They drew 0-0 away to Real Betis on Sunday, dropping nine points behind Barcelona, who scraped to a 1-0 win over Valencia on the same day.

“It’s not impossible,” Ancelotti told Movistar on Real Madrid’s chances of catching Barcelona.

“It will be very difficult, very complicated, but we have no doubt we’ll fight until the end. Of course, these results are affecting the team. If it doesn’t then you have no room to improve.”

The stalemate in Seville means Real Madrid have gone three games straight without a win (D2 L1), scoring just one goal and conceding two.

Ancelotti’s side will now prepare for Espanyol this Saturday. They then take on Liverpool in the Champions League next Wednesday, before visiting Barcelona in LaLiga on March 19.
