After a brilliant start to the Premier League season, Everton gaffer Carlo Ancelotti commented on his in-form striker.

Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti believes that his team owns a super-striker. Evidently, Dominic Calvert-Lewin displayed a classy performance and received his first England call-up.

The 23-year-old attacker already has eight goals registered on his account for the new season. He scored two hat-tricks consequently at Goodison Park. Thus, Ancelotti’s coaching methods have provided Calvert-Lewin with an excellent future.

Before the outbreak of COVID-19, the England international scored eight goals in 11 matches for the Toffees. Although, Ancelotti played a huge role as he took charge of the team back in December 2019.

However, the Italian boss says the opposite. He has not given Calvert-Lewin special instructions other than asking him to play closer to the goal. Though, Ancelotti believes that the striker’s mentality changed due to different tactics.

“He is a complete striker. It is not easy to find a striker with these characteristics,” Ancelotti said ahead of the visit of Brighton.

“He has a lot of energy, is really fast. I am really pleased he is doing really well and scoring goals because in the end a striker is judged on the goals he scores.

“It’s a great achievement for him (the England call-up). I hope it will not be the last. It depends on him. He is doing really well. He needs to have consistency.

“For the strikers, we do some individual exercises but nothing special. I think it was more mental or tactical to be focused in the box.

“To have James (Rodriguez) behind is helpful, not only for Dominic as a striker but for us to have better possession of the ball.

“Dominic used the quality of James and the quality of the team. What we like to do is play attacking football and he is now focused on the box.”

Injury woes.

Everton looks forward to making seven successive victories at home. They play the Seagulls on the weekend.

Therefore, making it the best start to the season in the club’s history since the 1894-95 season.

Though, injury problems make life difficult for Ancelotti.

“This beautiful bubble where we live will finish. When it does the squad has to be strong,” he added.

“We are really pleased. It is only the start. The season is long. I have told them there will be difficulties. But the spirit of the team is really good.”

Defender Jonjoe Kenny suffered from an ankle injury and will be out for a month. Moreover, Midfielder Allan will be out until the end of the international break due to a groin injury.

Portugal international Andre Gomes will not play a match because of a minor issue. Whereas, Brazilian forward Richarlison will undergo an ankle injury fitness test.

That being said, Yannick Bolasie still does not get to take part in the action. He has not played for Everton since May 2018 after several unsuccessful loans.

“Bolasie is training well, professionally. He is not part of the squad,” said Ancelotti.

“He can train with us until he finds a club at the end of the market. I have told him that we have a big squad and unfortunately, there is no space for him.”
