Ahead of Real Madrid’s upcoming game in LaLiga this weekend, Carlo Ancelotti has announced a fresh injury setback.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has announced a fresh injury setback for Arda Guler.

The injury means Guler’s wait to make his debut will continue. The 18-year-old had surgery on his knee in August, one month after his €20 million arrival from Fenerbahce. Despite later sustaining a thigh issue, he returned to training a fortnight ago.

Guler made the bench for this week’s games against Rayo Vallecano and Braga. The attacking midfielder didn’t play in either match, and now it appears he won’t be hitting the pitch anytime soon.

“Unfortunately he picked something up ahead of the game against Braga,” Ancelotti said at a press conference on Friday.

“It didn’t seem like anything serious but it’s still bothering him. It’s nothing important. The player is a bit down because he’s young, he wants to play and to contribute. It’s a setback but we have the international break now to get him back fit.”

On the upside, Jude Bellingham appears ready to return to the fold. Ancelotti reported that he is feeling good and should be available for Saturday’s game against Valencia in LaLiga.

Bellingham missed the 3-0 Champions League win over Braga on Wednesday because of a shoulder injury.
