The two Italian giants collide at the weekend at the Allianz Stadium in what could be a crucial fixture for Champions League qualification.

The losing team in the upcoming Juventus vs Milan clash will suffer from “psychological repercussions” says Fabio Capello, who claims neither of the two teams will be able to bounce back from a defeat.

Juventus are enduring a subpar season by their lofty standards. They have already conceded their Serie A crown to Inter Milan, who were able to enjoy Scudetto success after 11 long years.

Andrea Pirlo’s men currently sit at third place in the league standings, level on points with second-placed Atalanta and fourth-placed AC Milan.

Milan emerged as strong favorites to win the title early in the season but a dip in form after the turn of the year saw them lose their grip at the summit of the table and eventually fall down.

The two teams will now face each other and the outcome could very much shape how the top-four looks at the end of the season.

“Whoever lose are out [of the race for Champions League qualification]” Capello told Corriere della Sera of the Juventus vs Milan clash. “It’s not just about the table, I think the psychological repercussions of a defeat would be very heavy.

“They are not doing well right now, they are the two teams in most difficulty, losing the direct clash would be a blow.”
