Sergio Aguero has revealed Lionel Messi’s reaction after Real Madrid snatched a late comeback to beat Manchester City.
The Blancos defeated Man City 3-1 in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final tie on Wednesday.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side were 5-3 behind on aggregate when Rodrygo scored their first goal of the night. The Brazilian super-sub then equalized the tie with an excellent header a minute later.
Real Madrid completed their epic comeback when Karim Benzema converted a spot-kick in the extra time. The goal was enough to send Real Madrid to the Champions League final, leaving spectators in total shock.
Speaking to ESPN after the game, Man City legend Aguero revealed a text message from Messi.
“Stop joking, can’t be true,” the PSG star had written to Aguero.
Prior to their semi-final clash against City, Real Madrid had defeated Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea in a similar fashion.
Former City striker Tevez could barely believe his when seeing Real Madrid pull off another sensational comeback.
He said: “It’s crazy, you can’t win another game like that.”
What’s next for Real Madrid and Man City?
Real Madrid must face Liverpool in the Champions League final on May 28. It will be a rematch of their 2018 showpiece, which saw the Spanish giants claim the continental trophy with a 3-1 win.
On the other hand, Man City must now focus on their close title race with Liverpool in the Premier League. The Citizens are one point clear at the top of the league table, with four games to play.
Pep Guardiola’s side will face Newcastle in their next Premier League match on Sunday.
