Brazil sealed their place in the last-16 round despite suffering a late group-stage setback.

Cameroon defeated Brazil 1-0 in their World Cup game on Friday. The Selecao kept their place as Group G leaders despite losing their final group-stage match.

A redeeming win for Cameroon

Brazil started the game by putting pressure on Cameroon’s backline with quick runs behind their defensive line.

Three Cameroon players received yellow cards in the first 30 minutes. But the Indomitable Lions showed significant improvement after that.

Cameroon even came close to scoring before half-time but were too wasteful with their chances.

Brazil started the second half by creating more opportunities, with Eder Militao hitting the post just before the hour mark.

Similar to the first half, however, Brazil’s pressure wore off as the game went on.

Cameroon went all-in with their attacks in the final ten minutes, sending more and more crosses into Brazil’s box.

The African giants finally scored their winner through Vincent Aboubakar in the 92nd minute. Following a precise cross from Jerome Ngom Mbekeli, the experienced striker smashed the ball home with a powerful header.

Elsewhere in the group, Switzerland managed to escape their game against Serbia with a 3-2 win. The results sent Brazil and Switzerland to the next round as the group winners and runner-ups, respectively.

The Selecao will take on South Korea on Monday, while Switzerland have to face Portugal a day later.
