Former Argentina and Inter Milan star Esteban Cambiasso opened up on the chances of seeing Lionel Messi at the San Siro.

Steven Zhang may have recently announced signing Messi wasn’t part of his plans for the summer, but it’s no secret the Inter president would love to sign him if such an opportunity arose in the future.

And should the Argentine remain true to his plan for leaving Barcelona next year, Zhang will surely make a move.

A handful of top clubs are set to compete for Messi’s signature, starting from January when he’ll be eligible to discuss a free summer transfer to clubs outside Spain. Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are just one of several.

But Cambiasso, who made 431 appearances for Inter and was part of their treble-winning squad of 2009/10, expressed doubts over his illustrious compatriot heading to the San Siro or even leaving Camp Nou for that matter.

“Messi-Inter? I don’t live the market,” said Cambiasso as quoted on SportsMax. “I always wait for the end and then I make my assessments.

“The reality says that Leo is still in Barcelona and that he is still motivated to play for the Blaugrana.

“We want to see his football again, his best. Is he happy? I think he is, as always.”

Messi has managed one goal and two assists in his three appearances for Barcelona this season.
