The hosts surprised Liverpool with their stubborn start to the game but had no luck scoring the opener. Following several Burnley counter-attacks, the Reds eventually broke the deadlock five minutes before the interval.
Trent Alexander-Arnold sent a searching corner into Burnley’s box, which found Fabinho after multiple deflections. The Brazilian star smashed the ball past Nick Pope from close range as soon as he got his feet to it six yards out.
During the second half, Burnley had significantly more chances to score. However, Liverpool maintained their defensive integrity while also pushing to double their lead.
Alisson Becker kept his 11th clean sheet of the season to secure the Reds’ fourth consecutive league win. On the other hand, Burnley continued their run of 11 winless games.
