Stuttgart are on a run of three winless games, with a goalless draw against Mainz being their latest setback. They have scored only one goal in their last three games. However, a decent defensive form has kept them with only one defeat, that came against Borussia Dortmund.
We expect both sides to take a conservative approach to the game. Hertha might push for a win in Berlin, but their poor attacking stats convince us that they won’t find too many chances behind Stuttgart’s backline.
Goals likely when Gladbach lock horns with Freiburg
Freiburg are racing against Leverkusen for a top-four finish as they sit one point behind their opponents. Following a win over Hamburg in the DFB Pokal semi-finals, Christian Streich’s side will now prepare to meet Monchengladbach as their next league rivals.
Gladbach suffered a disappointing 3-1 defeat against Koln last week as they remained 11th on the league table. Similar to their previous seven games, Die Fohlen managed to score. However, their poor defensive form prevented them from escaping the defeat.
Freiburg will most likely have the upper hand against their opponents during the home game. We expect them to score at least once against the fourth-worst defence line in the league. However, Gladbach’s attacking stats increase their chances to find the back of the net at the Europa-Park Stadion.
Expect goals on both ends when Wolfsburg meet Mainz
Wolfsburg go into their match against Mainz on the back of a 6-1 thrashing by Dortmund. The Wolves failed horribly in controlling their opponents’ attackers, conceding five goals in the span of only 15 minutes.
Despite their heavy defeat, however, Wolfsburg managed to create several goalscoring chances, registering four shots on target against the Black and Yellows. This weekend they will try to bounce back from the defeat when meeting Mainz in a home game.
Their opponents failed to score in their last week’s clash against Stuttgart, something that wasn’t the case in their four previous fixtures. We expect the 05ers to return to goalscoring ways against Wolfsburg’s shaky backline. However, the hosts will most likely build on their attacking performance against Dortmund and score too.
