Following their capture of Kai Havertz from Chelsea, Arsenal are on the brink of signing two new players – with one seemingly confirmed.
Jurrien Timber has completed a move to Arsenal, as suggested by the Ajax defender’s brother, Shamier, on Instagram.
The 22-year-old, who can play as a central defender or right-back, has undergone a medical and signed for Arsenal, according to Fabrizio Romano. The transfer journalist has claimed the deal will be worth €45 million. Arsenal will pay Ajax an initial €40 million and a further €5 million in potential add-ons.
On Sunday, Timber’s brother posted a photo on Instagram, which has since been deleted. The picture showed what appears to be a farewell party. It included a cardboard cutout of Timber wearing an Arsenal shirt.
The Netherlands international could be unveiled as a new Arsenal player later in the week. The Gunners are also closing on a club-record deal to sign West Ham United captain Declan Rice.
Mikel Arteta’s side will begin preseason on Thursday with a friendly against German second-tier club Nurnberg at the Max-Morlock-Stadion.
