The Seagulls’ new star striker has taken the Premier League by storm this season.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes Evan Ferguson will join an elite Premier League club at some point despite Brighton’s desire to keep him for the long term.

Brighton has been one of the most successful English clubs in terms of developing young talents in recent seasons. Following a transfer window that saw Moises Caicedo leave the club for a staggering £115m fee, another Brighton star is already dominating the transfer headlines.

Ferguson has scored four goals in his five Premier League appearances this season, helping Brighton remain fifth in the standings. The 18-year-old has reportedly attracted interest from Manchester United and Tottenham, who might move to sign him as soon as next summer.

“He’s got great pace, great hold up play, he is ruthless in front of goal and he looks to have it all,” Wright said at an EA SPORTS event. “He has a great mentality and seems to be very mature for a player of his age.”

He added: “Ferguson would probably fit into any of the teams in the top four of the Premier League and that is impressive when you consider how young he is.

“At the moment, he is at the right club to help his development. Brighton is an unbelievably run club. They have a great manager and he needs time to develop before he goes on to one of the big clubs, but you can see that happening inevitably, for sure.”
