The Seagulls’ injury crisis worsens ahead of their busy schedule in January.
Brighton have been handed two more injury blows as Kaoru Mitoma and Simon Adingra are sidelined with fitness issues.
Mitoma picked up an ankle injury in Brighton’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace last week. Despite initial assessments, the Japanese winger’s injury is set to keep him out of at least five matches.
Speaking in a press conference on Wednesday, Roberto De Zerbi said of Mitoma’s situation: “We’ve lost Mitoma for around four to six weeks.”
Adingra is also added to Brighton’s injury list after suffering a hamstring injury. The Ivorian forward is expected to remain sidelined for around five weeks.
Brighton have been dealing with an injury crisis in recent weeks, losing several key players due to fitness issues. In addition to Mitoma and Adingra, Brighton have six other players out of action: Solly March (knee), Julio Enciso (knee), Ansu Fati (thigh), Adam Webster (unknown), Tariq Lamptey (thigh), Joel Veltman (knee).
Brighton are preparing to take on Tottenham in their final match of 2023 on Thursday. The Seagulls are expected to have Pervis Estupinan and Adam Lallana back in their squad. But the pair will most likely start the game on the bench.
