The Gunners have entered a new transfer battle with their city rivals.

Brighton have reportedly rejected a £60m offer from Arsenal to sign Moises Caicedo amid interest from Chelsea.

The Ecuadorian midfielder has established a reputation as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League this season. His impressive performances for the Seagulls have attracted interest from a host of elite sides.

Chelsea were the first club to enter negotiations for Caicedo, but it seems that Arsenal have also started their efforts to sign the 21-year-old.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea and Arsenal are now in direct competition to secure Caicedo’s services.

The Blues were leading the race for the midfielder with a reported £55m offer. But the Gunners have entered the race by making a £60m bid for the Ecuador international.

The Athletic have claimed Brighton have rejected both clubs’ offers in recent days, demanding a higher fee.

Arsenal have missed out on the signings of Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk this winter, with both players ending up joining Chelsea.

The Gunners hope to sign Caicedo as a reliable replacement for Mohamed Elneny, who’s facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines. However, competition from Chelsea could force them to submit a higher offer for Brighton’s star midfielder.
