Chelsea dropped two points at the Falmer Stadium as they failed to reclaim the second spot on the table.

Brighton held Chelsea to a 1-1 draw in their Premier League game on Tuesday. The Blues continued their run of five winless league games as they displayed another underwhelming attacking performance.

Tuchel in crisis!

Chelsea came into the game on the back of their 1-0 defeat against Manchester City on Saturday. If that game did not persuade observers that Chelsea are already out of the title race, this one certainly exposed their current form.

The Blues gained possession early on and put the hosts under pressure. Following a few missed chances, Hakim Ziyech finally broke the deadlock for the Blues in the 28th minute.

Ziyech completed a one-two with N’Golo Kante before deciding to go for an unexpected shot. The Moroccan slotted the ball into the bottom-right corner with a precise shot, beating Roberto Martinez on his near post.

Chelsea struggled to make enough chances to extend their lead, and they finally conceded themselves just before the hour-mark. Following a corner from Alexis Mac Allister, Adam Webster levelled the game with a superb header. The goal motivated Chelsea to put more bodies forward. However, Thomas Tuchel’s side lacked enough composure to turn the game around.

It is something we have seen over and over again from Chelsea in their recent games. Romelu Lukaku seems lost upfront while failing to deliver when he gets goalscoring chances. On the other hand, the buildup toward him is far from the best as Chelsea’s midfielders also seem less confident.

The Blues remain in third place with 44 points from their 23 games. They will face Tottenham in their next league game on Sunday. Brighton also keep their current place on the table. Ninth-placed Seagulls will meet Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.
