Brighton surprised their guests with a few attempts to find an early opener, but Liverpool managed to repel their attacks. The Reds then gradually gained possession and reinforced their attacks from both flanks.

Jurgen Klopp’s side finally broke the deadlock in the 19th minute. Following a perfect chip pass from Joel Matip, Luis Diaz headed the ball into the bottom corner of the net from the edge of the box.

Liverpool re-started their attacks to increase their lead as soon as the second half started. Following a few missed chances, the Reds finally scored their second goal from the spot-kick just after the hour-mark.

Mohamed Salah converted the penalty with a confident strike as he scored Liverpool’s 2000th goal in the Premier League. Brighton pushed to get back into the game, but brilliant defensive performances from Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip prevented them from ruining Liverpool’s clean sheet.
