Premier League newcomers stun the Gunners, who return with no points from their visit to West London.
Arsenal are off to a disappointing start to the 2021-22 Premier League campaign after surrending to a 2-0 defeat to Brentford on Friday night.
Arsenal conceded the first goal in the middle of the first half, with Spanish winger Sergi Conos collecting the ball near the box after a half clearance by Calum Chambers, darting inside the area, and slotting his shot in at the near-post.
Conos’ strike was a special for Brentford as it marked the club’s first ever goal in the Premier League as well as the first one in the English top-flight after 74 years.
Thomas Frank’s side doubled their lead late in the second half after another weak attempt at clearance by the visitors, and that time it was midfielder Christian Norgaard who nodded in from close range.
All in all, it was a perfect night for Brentford, to announce their arrival to the Premier League in style – but not so much for Arsenal, who would’ve been hoping for a better start after a disappointing eighth-place finish last time out.
