Dutch goalkeeper Michel Vorm has officially announced his retirement from professional football.

Tottenham Hotspur has officially confirmed that their goalkeeper Michel Vorm has retired from football.

Vorm started his professional career in Dutch side Utrecht back in 2005. He played 150 games for the club and made his official debut for the Netherlands in 2008 before moving to England three years later.

The Dutchman made a name for himself at Swansea City, where he spent three seasons, winning the English League Cup in 2013.

He moved to Tottenham in 2014, but made only 13 Premier League appearances for Spurs since them.

On the international level, Vorm earned 15 caps for Holland’s national football team. He was included in the squad that reached the final at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa and also helped the Netherlands to win third place in Brazil, four years later.

With Joe Hart and Paulo Gazzaniga as back-up goalkeepers for club captain Hugo Lloris, the Dutch veteran was not even included in Mourinho’s squad for the 2020-21 EPL campaign.

He retires six days after his 37th birthday.
