The Red Devils have added a new midfielder to their ranks ahead of the next season.

Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Christian Eriksen as a free agent.

The Danish star made a successful return to English football last year, joining Brentford on a six-month deal.

Almost a year after his cardiac arrest during the Euro 2020, Eriksen now arrives at Old Trafford on a three-year contract.

“Manchester United is a special club. I cannot wait to get started,” the 30-year-old told United’s website.

“I have had the privilege of playing at Old Trafford many times but to do it in the red shirt of United will be an amazing feeling,” Eriksen said of his arrival.

“I have seen Erik’s work at Ajax and know the level of detail and preparation that he and his staff put into every day.

It is clear that he is a fantastic coach. Having spoken with him and learned more about his vision and the way he wants the team to play, I am even more excited for the future.

“I still have major ambitions in the game, there is a huge amount that I know I can achieve, and this is the perfect place to continue my journey.”

Eriksen has made a total of 237 appearances in the Premier League, registering 52 goals and 66 assists.

The Dane joins the Red Devils as their second signing this summer, following Tyler Malacia’s transfer from Feyenoord.

United will most likely push to further bolster their midfield this summer, with Frenkie de Jong being their main target.
