According to a recent report, Liverpool won’t be able to travel to Germany to face RB Leipzig in the Champions League’s Round of 16.

We have some breaking news involving Liverpool’s upcoming trip to Germany to face RB Leipzig. The Reds have been prohibited to travel to that country for the upcoming UEFA Champions League round of 16 match on February 16. According to Sky Germany, Covid-19 restrictions is the reason the Reds won’t be able to travel.

As an alternative, UEFA is giving RB Leipzig until February 8 to come up with a different venue to play the match outside of the country. If they don’t meet this deadline with a solution, Liverpool will win the game 3-0 by default. The next four days will be key to determine whether the Reds will get this boost on their current Champions League run or not.

This resolution is beneficial for Liverpool.

Given their current situation in the Premier League, this possible outcome would be extremely beneficial to help Liverpool get through to the quarterfinals. RB Leipzig can’t really do anything about German laws because they also have to set an example for the rest of their compatriots. Julian Nagelsmann has to be fuming about this decision but the club needs to work together in order to find the best solution.

A bubble-type environment is currently being discussed as an alternative to giving RB Leipzig a chance. However, Angela Merkel’s government is harsh in negotiations of this nature. The global pandemic has taken many lives in Germany. They simply don’t want to keep taking new risks with the new variant coming from England.
