In some unexpected news, France has suffered a major injury blow that will leave them without one of their biggest offensive players.

The France National Team got some awful news today as one of their biggest offensive players suffered a major injury blow. During their match against Hungary, Ousmane Dembele had to step out of the pitch after getting a knock on his knee. After getting the proper tests, the FC Barcelona player had to leave the squad and return to Barcelona today. This comes in an untimely fashion as Dembele was starting to get back to his highest level in recent months. When he arrived at the Catalan club, he started suffering various different injuries that prevented him from reaching his true potential.

It is still unclear how much time he will miss on the sidelines but this doesn’t help his current situation with the Blaugranas. There is a good chance Dembele will possibly miss a few months of activity depending on how serious the injury is. The France Football Federation made the following statement as the official announcement: “Discussions took place on Sunday between the medical staff of the French team and FC Barcelona. After speaking with the player and Dr Franck Le Gall, Didier Deschamps took note of Ousmane Dembele’s withdrawal.”

What happens to Dembele at FC Barcelona?

When last season ended, Ousmane Dembele was on a high note in terms of his physical condition. He was getting constant minutes on the pitch with Ronald Koeman trusting him almost completely. The French forward recovered a good fraction of his best level of performance and was scoring important goals for the club. This latest blow is a massive setback that could even push the club towards making a rash decision.

Joan Laporta’s plans are to create the best possible squad for the next season. If he was fit, Dembele was an important part of this new project. However, things can quickly change for him with the latest news about his injury. There’s a good chance he can become a trading chip in Joan Laporta’s attempts to sign a few more interesting players during the transfer window. Perhaps the Premier League could be a good option for him to jump-start his career after he recovers from this latest setback.
