After so much pressure from the football world, Chelsea might be the first one to withdraw from the European Super League.
It appears Chelsea is giving up to the pressure that the European Super League created within the football world. Ever since the news became public, the entire football community came together like never before. Fans, journalists, modest football clubs, and a couple of powerhouses aligned their strength. Due to all the pressure created for this, one of the 12 initial founding clubs was bound to back down from the proposed agenda.
BBC Sports’ Dan Roan has the exclusive that Chelsea is the club willing to withdraw from the proposal. According to his information, the Blues are already preparing documentation that will allow them to get out of the deal. Roman Abramovich appears to have seen reason after all the protests from supporters outside of Stamford Bridge. Suddenly, he realized that his own fans are looking at him as a villain and he doesn’t like this idea.
Can Chelsea truly with draw from the deal?
According to what Florentino Perez stated yesterday, all 12 clubs involved have signed a legal document. If Chelsea was to withdraw from this deal, they would have to go to court against the other 11 clubs. At this point, only one club getting out wouldn’t be enough due to this signed document. Other clubs would have to follow suit if they wanted to oppose the main organizers of this creation.
Namely Florentino Perez, the Glazer family, and Andrea Agnelli are the masterminds behind all of this. Gary Neville already said yesterday that Malcolm Glazer already stamped his name on this project and he won’t rest until it’s a reality. We might be on the verge of a war between these clubs if other owners follow Abramovich’s example.
