The Brighton manager joins the Blues a day after Tuchel’s sacking.

Chelsea have announced Graham Potter as their new manager.

The appointment comes after Thomas Tuchel’s surprise dismissal on Wednesday. Potter takes charge at Stamford Bridge amid their struggle for consistency at the beginning of the new season.

“We are thrilled to bring Graham to Chelsea. He is a proven coach and an innovator in the Premier League who fits our vision for the Club,” Boehly said in the club’s announcement.

“Not only is he extremely talented on the pitch, he has skills and capabilities that extend beyond the pitch which will make Chelsea a more successful Club. He has had a major impact at his previous Clubs’ and we look forward to his positive impact at Chelsea.

“We look forward to supporting him, his coaching team and the squad in realising their full potential in the coming months and years.”

Potter started his managerial career at Swedish side Ostersund. He managed to lead his side to top-flight glory after promoting them all the way from the fourth tier.

The English manager then moved to Swansea, where he stayed for a season before replacing Chris Hughton at Brighton.

The Seagulls finished 15th and 16th in their first two seasons under Potter. However, they moved up to the ninth spot last season.

Potter leaves Brighton as they sit fourth on the Premier League table after six matchdays. Let’s see if Todd Boehly’s first managerial appointment will lead the Blues into another triumphant era.
