Ajax has completed the signing of West Ham’s most expensive transfer who joined the club in July 2019.

Dutch champions AFC Ajax have signed French striker Sebastien Haller from West Ham United. The transfer comes as a shock as Haller had joined the Hammers on a record €50 million transfer just one and a half year ago.

Nevertheless, the Amsterdam club has reportedly secured the services of the 26-year-old striker for half of that fee. Haller, whose market value currently surrounds €30 million, will join Ajax for an arguably low-cost price of €25 million.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the former Frankfurt superstar has completed his medical exams. Moreover, Haller will sign his contract and be formally announced this Thursday evening.

Despite being out of form in his first season, the French striker’s performances largely improved over the past few months. In fact, Haller has already equaled last season’s goal-scoring achievements. The new Ajax man netted the goal seven times this season, including an incredible bicycle kick against Crystal Palace last December.

West Ham will now need to find a new replacement for the striker, as their only senior option Michail Antonio has struggled with his fitness in the past. In addition to their long-lasting interest in Bournemouth’s Joshua King, the Hammers are reportedly also considering Graziano Pelle. The former Southampton man is available for a free transfer after recently leaving China.
