World Cup winner Rivaldo believes Lionel Messi deserves to win the trophy in Qatar as Argentina reach the tournament’s final.
Another perfect display from Argentina’s No.10 saw Argentina smash Croatia 3-0 on Tuesday. The Paris Saint-Germain star scored and provided an assist as he became Argentina’s all-time top-scorer in the World Cup.
“We no longer have Brazil or Neymar in this cup final, so I’ll stay with Argentina. No words for you Leo Messi,” Rivaldo wrote on Instagram.
“You already deserved to be world champion before, but God knows all things and will crown you this Sunday.
“You deserve this title for the person you are and for the wonderful football you always played. Hats off to you. God bless you.”
Messi has scored in five of Argentina’s six World Cup games so far in Qatar. The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner is now on the verge of completing his unmatched trophy cabinet with the World Cup title.
The 35-year-old took to Instagram after the semi-final clash, writing: “We came back to gain strength to play another great match.
“Thank you very much to everyone who trusted this group! Come on Argentina!”
Messi and co will discover their final opponents in the World Cup when France take on Morocco on Wednesday.
