Italy pays a visit to Bosnia-Herzegovina for the final UEFA Nations League match before the semifinals. We have the player ratings.
The Italy National Team had one chance to return to its days of glory against Bosnia-Herzegovina tonight. As the UEFA Nations League approached its final days before October 2021’s final four, the Italians were within a victory of the target. Roberto Mancini has done a fantastic job taking back several aspects of the historic defensive solidity in the squad. But the offensive players are the ones who have taken the responsibility to lead this new generation towards great achievements.
After tonight, we can safely say that the old Italy is finally back at the top to compete for all the trophies. They missed the most recent World Cup in 2018, which was already a tragedy for the whole country. But they worked hard to get their goals throughout the competition and it paid off this evening.
Belotti and Berardi respond in style.
Both Andrea Belotti and Domenico Berardi responded well to Mancini’s tactical approach. In the purest sense, the Azzurri was as defensive as always but on target when they had to attack. This squad only needs a couple of chances to score goals and defend the result after they’ve done it. In football, Italians have always been this pragmatic and they managed to win four World Cup titles like this.
Andrea Belotti scored the opening goal after a brilliant assist from Insigne during the first half. In the second half, Locatelli provided a beautiful assist to Berardi for a fantastic volley to give Italy the final four spot. With this result, we have the Italians playing against Belgium, Spain, and France.
