Let’s take a look at Borussia Dortmund and Zenit’s player ratings for today’s UEFA Champions League match at Signal Iduna Park

Borussia Dortmund received a visit from Zenit at Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday. The UEFA Champions League continued its activity in Group F with Lucien Favre’s players having a hard time to score against the Russians. The entire first half was filled with chances coming from all over the place but no fortune for Dortmund.

Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland weren’t as lucky as usual against Zenit until the final minutes of the game. Mats Hummels deserves a special mention for his impressive performance. Those box-to-box passes make his side even more dangerous. Despite the many chances created in the first half, the Black & Yellow squad went to the dressing rooms with no goals.

Sancho and Haaland finally respond.

After so much grinding, Favre’s squad finally caught a break with only 12 minutes left on the clock. Thorgan Hazard proves he is the good brother by getting knocked down inside the box and getting a penalty for his side. Jadon Sancho didn’t miss his shot to give Dortmund the initial advantage with little time left.

Just as the game was about to die, Jude Bellingham assisted Haaland with his head for Dortmund’s second goal. That’s the 12th goal in 10 matches for Erling in the Champions League. His record is much more impressive than people like Ronaldo or Messi when they reached the same numbers. It took them quite a while, but the German squad got their victory in the end.
