PSG secured their place in the last-16 round after a tough battle against Dortmund.

Paris Saint-Germain drew 1-1 with Borussia Dortmund in their Champions League game on Wednesday. The “Group of Death” fixtures ended with both sides reaching the knockout stage.

What happened?

Paris Saint-Germain started the game on the front foot, making several attempts to snatch an early opener. A crazy goal-line save from Niklas Sule and several other misses, however, kept the scoreline even. Then it was Dortmund’s turn to miss a host of goalscoring chances through Marco Reus, Niklas Fullkrug and Mats Hummels.

The second half, however, started with a shock for Paris Saint-Germain as they fell behind through Karim Adeyemi’s goal in the 51st minute. The German youngster converted Fullkrug’s short pass inside the box to make it 1-0 for the hosts.

But it only took PSG three minutes to find the equalizer and get back into the game. A half-cleared cutback from Kylian Mbappe found Warren Zaire-Emery on the edge of the box before the 17-year-old smashed it into the left corner of the box.

PSG found a host of opportunities to complete their comeback, including an offside goal from Mbappe, but failed to edge out Dortmund’s brilliant defending and settled for the draw. Elsewhere in Group F, Milan defeated Newcastle 2-1 to qualify for the Europa League.
