Jerome Boateng is in no hurry to part ways with Bayern Munich, but he has a few destination choices for when the time eventually comes.
Jerome Boateng was a key member of the Bayern Munich team that recorded a triplet-trophy triumph last season, making 37 appearances combined in the Champions League, Bundesliga, and DFB-Pokal.
The defender has enjoyed quite a few successful seasons during his nine-year stint at Allianz Arena, though not as historical as the 2019/20 one.
A total of 20 major trophies has been picked up by the Ghanaian-German center-back, who has made 328 appearances so far for the Bavarians.
The 32-year old is still a reliable presence in the Bayern backline but there have been some question marks surrounding his future at the club lately.
Quizzed on what could be a deciding factor in choosing his next destination, Boateng told Kicker: “Another culture. I like to learn new things and don’t always have to be in the same place. USA, Asia, or even another European country, you will see – but it doesn’t have to be.
Boateng, however, feels he still has a lot to offer and is open to signing a contract extension with the European champions.
“I can imagine [signing an extension],” he added. “My children feel at home here. With Hansi Flick as coach and this team, it’s a lot of fun.
“In the end, I’m happy to still be with FC Bayern. I’m enjoying football again.”
