Daley Blind has thanked the fans for their support while updating on his health following a heart problem scare in a friendly match.

Ajax defender Daley Blind collapsed on the pitch when his implanted heart defibrillator went off during a preseason warm-up match against Hertha Berlin on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old Dutchman immediately dropped to the ground when the device stopped functioning late in the game, but was able to stroll off the pitch upon being substituted.

He encountered dizziness during the Champions League match against Valencia in December, after which he was diagnosed with heart muscle inflammation.

A subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD), a device that monitors and regulates heart rhythm, was fitted on him, and he was then able to return to full training in February.

After his fresh set-back, the former Manchester United man delivered a positive update on his condition.

“Many thanks for all the kind messages I received,” Blind wrote in a Twitter post. “I can say that I’m okay and feeling fine.”
