The Turkish defender completed a deadline day switch from the Veltins-Arena to Anfield on loan for the remainder of the season.

Jurgen Klopp insists Ozan Kabak is ready to “deliver” for Liverpool as the manager sings praises of his new signing.

Liverpool signed Kabak from Schalke on a temporary basis on Monday after sealing the deal for Ben Davies from Preston to ease their defensive woes.

The 20-year-old center-back has joined the club until the end of the current campaign but the Premier League champions have the option to turn his loan deal into a permanent arrangement for a reported €20 million.

An ongoing injury crisis in defense means the Turkey international might not have to wait long to slot into the Reds’ backline.

Klopp has received a glowing assessment of Kabak from his friend and former Schalke boss David Wagner and believes the youngster has all the right qualities and mindset.

“Dave was already very, very positive about him,” Klopp told the club’s official website. “He came very young to Germany and everybody was clear he was a massive talent.

“He is only 20 now. He plays in his second club [in Germany]; he is at Schalke and unfortunately they are in a bad position at the moment.

“He’s really a big, big talent and we are really looking forward to working with him.

“Dave always said he will be a future captain of a team. He is a proper personality.”

“He wants to learn but he can deliver already.”
