The Leeds manager offered his verdict on Arteta’s progress at Arsenal ahead of Sunday’s clash in the Premier League.

Marcelo Bielsa has praised his Arsenal counterpart Mikel Arteta for never losing his team’s identity despite the struggles this season has brought.

Arteta has experienced a difficult first full campaign as a manager after an impressive start. The Gunners are out of the FA Cup and sit only 11th in the Premier League, a point behind Sunday’s opponents Leeds.

The two sides previously settled for a 0-0 draw at Elland Road in November after Nicolas Pepe’s dismissal left Arsenal down to 10-men.

“I think he’s a great coach,” Bielsa said on Arteta in his pre-match conference.

“His team have never lost their identity. They have different types of players for the same positions which demands knowledge of the style.

“We have to bear in mind that in that game they played half the game a player down so they were at a disadvantage, so any analysis made would not be a balanced one.

“We had so many shots, so one of the secrets to winning the game would be to increase our efficiency.”

Arsenal and Leeds will meet at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday evening.
