Federico Bernardeschi has been diagnosed with a thigh strain and is out for at least two weeks, confirmed Juventus.

Bernardeschi was forced to leave the Italy training camp with an injury, missing the Nations League matches against Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Netherlands.

He returned to Turin for tests and took a test recently to see the extent of his injury

After the presentation of Arthur Melo earlier today, Juventus released a statement with a more accurate diagnosis for Bernardeschi.

A statement on the club’s website read:

“Federico Bernardeschi, following the muscular problem reported in the national team, underwent radiological examinations today at J|Medical which revealed a medium-grade lesion of the rectus femoris muscle of the left thigh; in 15 days he will undergo new checks.”

It means he won’t be fit for the opening Serie A game of the season on the weekend of September 19-20.

Bernardechi was in and out of the Juventus squad last season despite his tally of 29 Serie A appearances.

With the arrivals of Arthur Melo and Weston McKennie, The Italian faces an even tougher task to stake a regular claim in the Juventus lineup.
