Zidane’s men are set to receive a major boost as Benzema steps up his recovery from injury ahead of some crucial games.

Karim Benzema’s recovery from injury is going well and the Real Madrid striker hopes to return in time for the derby against Atletico Madrid on March 7.

An adductor injury has forced Benzema to miss Los Blancos’ last two games against Real Valladolid and Atalanta. But while his absence was felt, the club bagged crucial 1-0 victories in the LaLiga and Champions League encounters respectively.

According to Marca, Benzema is aiming to be available for the Madrid derby on March 7. Therefore, he has 10 days to prepare and prove himself to Real Madrid’s medical staff, who are unwilling to rush his comeback in fear of triggering another injury setback.

There is also a chance the 33-year-old may feature in Monday’s league match against Real Sociedad in the Spanish capital.

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane will certainly hope that’s the case, with Marco Asensio, Mariano Diaz, and Vinicius Junior struggling to step up. He even resorted to using Isco as a false nine in the 1-0 win over Atalanta.
