Real Madrid will play their final group stage Champions League game against Inter Milan on Wednesday without Karim Benzema.

Karim Benzema was substituted in Saturday’s match against Real Sociedad as Carlo Ancelotti brought in Luka Jovic as a replacement.

Just in the first 16 minutes of the game, the French star felt pain in his left hamstring and he limped off the field. His injury was then re-examined on Monday ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League meeting against Inter Milan.

There is no doubt that Benzema has been impressive this year having scored 35 goals in 46 matches for Blancos.

However, the 33-year-old pulled a muscle following a run down the left flank last weekend and could not continue playing. Though, the France international walked himself to the medical room after getting replaced by Jovic.

Ancelotti’s initial thoughts were as follows: “The Benzema thing does not seem serious at all. But I do not think he will be available for Tuesday.”

Accordingly, the medical reports confirmed that his problem is not of a serious kind, but he will miss midweek’s European battle against the Italian outfit.

“Karim has had a problem, it bothered him a little and it didn’t I think [he will be there] for Tuesday, but maybe for Sunday, yes,” Ancelotti added.
