Could Jude Bellingham be the key to ending England’s long trophy drought? Kieran Trippier shares his thoughts on the youngster.

Kieran Trippier believes that the young and dynamic Jude Bellingham could be the key to unlocking success for England.

The upcoming clash against Italy on Tuesday stands as a decisive moment. The Three Lions can seal their place in the prestigious Euro 2024 tournament by winning the game.

Bellingham, who has shined early on his Real Madrid career, is bound to be at the center of attention. The midfielder’s impressive performances and attitude have left England teammate Trippier in awe.

“At such a young age, with the maturity, the quality and the aggression he’s got, he’s frightening,” the former Atletico Madrid defender remarked.

Bellingham’s recent exploits at Real Madrid, where he has notched an astonishing 10 goals in 10 games, add a layer of excitement to England’s prospects.

The 20-year-old is expected to start in England’s crucial game against Italy.

“Jude can be the difference — but if you look throughout the whole team, from 2018 to now we’ve taken massive steps,” Trippier continued.

“Jude, Madders [James Maddison], obviously Bukayo [Saka], Phil [Foden], they can change games in certain moments. They’re still young. Representing England is a big thing but these guys are playing at the top level.”

England’s long-standing trophy drought has persisted since the 1966 World Cup.
