Hector Bellerin has followed his gut and invested money in Forest Green Rovers, the world’s first carbon-neutral football club.
Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin continues to make waves away from the pitch. The Spaniard has been marred by injuries and used his time off to get creative with his money.
The pronounced vegan has taken a minority stake in League Two club, Forest Green Rovers. Bellerin came in contact with the Rovers owner, Dale Vince.
Vince is a green energy industrialist and is the main reason Bellerin put his money where his mouth is. The 25-year-old was impressed by the fact that the club are not only vegan but also eco-friendly.
Forest Green were recently recognized by FIFA as ‘the greenest football club in the world’. They also are certified by the United Nations as the first carbon-neutral football club.
“Dale has revolutionized that football club — they’re vegan, they’re eco-friendly, they have a neutral carbon footprint,” he said.
“They’re a clear example of how to run a football club in our times so I wanted to be a part of it and offer my help to them in whichever way I could.”
Bellerin will hope that his initiative gets him some karma and he can end his run of unfortunate injuries. Suffering from fitness issues, the Calella native only made 15 Premier League appearances for Arsenal.
