Three Lions downed as the Belgians find the back of the net two times to strengthen their grip at the top of the Group A2 table.

England’s hopes of Nations League glory crashed and burned on Sunday night after they were handed a 2-0 beating at the hands of Belgium.

Gareth Southgate’s team were simply the second-best against Roberto Martinez’s side, who registered their 11th successive competitive home win.

The hosts did not take too long to make their mark in the match, striking just 10 minutes after kick-off to take the lead through Youri Tielemans.

Dries Mertens added another, curling in a fine free-kick, in the first half to put the Red Devils in a position needing just a point from their final group stage game to proceed into the next round of the competition.
