Bayern Munich are doing all in their might to try and pin down David Alaba with a contract extension, informs Oliver Kahn.

Bayern Munich’s David Alaba has been attracting a lot of interest from the Premier League as of late.

Alaba’s interest is mainly instigated from the fact that he has shown no urgency in extending his stay at Bayern despite edging closer to the final year of his contract.

It is being reported that the prospect of playing in England is compelling for the 28-year old, who has been in Germany for the last eight years.

Manchester City are the most strongly linked with his signing, while Manchester United and Chelsea also reportedly want him.

The defender is expected to make a decision on his future after the conclusion of Bayern’s Champions League campaign.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the club’s executive board member Oliver Kahn, however, is fairly confident that Alaba will stay put at the Allianz Arena.

“We are currently in frequent talks with David Alaba and his advisors. Of course, I can’t talk about the content, but I think we’re getting closer. The atmosphere during the last conversation was very pleasant,” said Kahn.

“We’re doing everything we can to keep David. At the moment, I’m very optimistic that we can keep David.”
