The Bavarians have explained the reason behind Sane’s unexpected absence from training.

Leroy Sane has taken a break from Bayern Munich training to spend time with his family in England.

The German winger was among the most notable absentees in Hansi Flick’s first post-World Cup squad for Die Mannschaft. However, he didn’t take part in Bayern’s training sessions amid the process of Julian Nagelsmann’s sacking.

According to Bild, Bayern allowed Sane to fly to London at the beginning of the international break.

“Leroy Sané trained individually in consultation with the coach last week. He was not obliged to be present at Säbener Straße,” a Bayern official told Bild on Sunday.

Sane has come under criticism for his inconsistent performances this season.

Bayern hoped to cover for Robert Lewandowski’s departure by increasing the depth of their attacking line this season. However, the likes of Sane, Serge Gnabry, and Sadio Mane struggled for form under Nagelsmann.

The next few months will be critical for Sane, who could see his future elsewhere if he fails to regain his best form under Thomas Tuchel.

Bayern will host Borussia Dortmund in their first match under the German boss.
