Nine Bayern Munich players were selected as UEFA released their 23-man Champions League team of the season.

It was no surprise that a host of Bayern Munich players dominated the Champions League team of the season.

An exciting campaign came to an end on the 23rd of August as the Bavarians secured a 1-0 win over PSG in the final hosted in Lisbon.

A change in format due to the effects of the global pandemic saw football fans witness some mind-blowing results.

Lyon earned themselves the ‘giant slayer’ tag after knocking out Juventus and Manchester City. The biggest shock of the tournament came when Barcelona suffered a humiliating 8-2 loss at the hands of eventual winners Bayern Munich.

With the competition done and dusted, a panel of UEFA analysts released their 23-man list of the season. It was announced on the organization’s website on Friday afternoon.

Manuel Neuer starred for Bayern in goal all through their campaign and it was no surprise he was the first on the list.

In defence, Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk was the surprise addition. He was the only player whose team failed to make it to the quarter-finals at least.

In midfield, Kevin De Bruyne and Houssem Aouar made the cut while Bayern duo Muller and Thiago were other notable names.

Upfront, another Bayern duo in Lewandowski and Gnabry were deserved names while PSG duo Mbappe and Neymar also got in the mix. The final two spots went to Lionel Messi and Raheem Sterling. There was no slot for Cristiano Ronaldo.
