The first-round DFB Pokal match between Bayern Munich and Bremer SV has been postponed because of the outbreak of COVID-19 cases.

Bayern Munich will have to wait to clash against Bremer SV in the first round of DFB Pokal due to the spread of COVID-19 as announced by the German Football Association.

The fixture was scheduled for this Friday as the fifth-tier club Bremer were going to host the Bundesliga kings. This was a well-anticipated match for both the outfits ahead of the 2021-22 domestic campaign.

Be that as it may, the local club declared the second positive coronavirus case in the span of two days. And therefore, the game had to be pushed forward to another date which is yet to be announced.

Moreover, the entire Bremer team will go under a period of isolation. The DFB concluded an official statement while also disclosing the delay of the second round fixture of the tournament.

“The management for the DFB-Pokal has cancelled the game scheduled for Friday between Bremer SV and Bayern Munich,” the statement read. “The background to this is the officially ordered quarantine measures for Bremer SV.”

“The DFB will decide on the rescheduling of the game as soon as possible in coordination with both clubs.”

“In addition, the draw for the second round has to be postponed due to the allocation of both clubs to different pots.”
